SPEECH & LANGUAGE therapy program:

ARTICULATION

Difficulty producing specific sounds, often involves substitution of one sound for another; speech that is slurred or incomprehensible

EXPRESSIVE / RECEPTIVE LANGUAGE

Difficulty sharing thoughts in a way that makes sense and is grammatically accurate/understanding the meaning of what others say or what is read

SOCIAL SKILLS

Trouble with the social use of verbal and nonverbal communication, talking in different ways to suit the listener and setting, following rules for conversation to develop and maintain meaningful friendships and relationships

FLUENCY / STUTTERING

Interruptions in flow of speech, including repetitions or prolongations of sounds, syllables or words

VOICE

Speech that is too high, low, or monotonous in pitch; too loud or too soft, harsh, hoarse, breathy, or nasal

OCCUPATIONAL therapy program:

ONLINE OT ASSESSMENTS

Assessments are completed online through digital platforms to assess student’s functional abilities and school-based performance and identify potential barriers to participation.  Assessments include formal standardized measures and informal observations.

FINE MOTOR SKILLS & COORDINATION

Grasp patterns on writing and cutting tools that are immature and inefficient, making handwriting illegible or difficult to complete.   Difficulty managing fasteners (zippers, buttons, etc.) on clothing or backpacks, accessing technology, keyboarding, etc., or fatiguing quickly with fine motor tasks.

GROSS MOTOR SKILLS

Difficulty with balance, strength, and endurance could lead to challenges sitting upright in a chair or at a desk, navigating the school/classroom environment, or participating in PE class or on the playground.

VISUAL PERCEPTION & MOTOR SKILLS

Difficulty with drawing, copying, cutting, reading, writing, math concepts, organization and planning, or writing letters or numbers. Letter or number reversals may be noted.

SENSORY PROCESSING & INTEGRATION

When children have difficulty receiving and interpreting sensory information from their environment (i.e. smells, sounds, tactile input, movement, etc.) they may display difficulty with appropriate responses that can disrupt learning.

SELF CARE SUPPORT

May have difficulty with feeding themselves at lunch time, dressing such as putting on coats, changing shoes for PE class, and independently completing toileting tasks.  These challenges may lead to challenges with time management, social participation, classroom focus, and overall independence
